Methods
Analytical Methods
Educational descriptions of what individual analytical methods establish. Specific methods and results are shown against a material or lot only where an approved record supplies them.
Chromatographic separation
Separates the components of a sample so their relative proportions can be measured under stated conditions. It describes composition as measured by that method; it does not establish sterility, safety or biological activity.
Mass determination
Compares measured mass against the mass expected for a stated structure, supporting identity. It does not by itself quantify impurities.
Identity confirmation
Checks that a material corresponds to the identity recorded in its specification. Identity is distinct from purity and from fitness for any particular use.
Water and residual content
Measures content such as residual solvent or water where a specification requires it. Reported only where a lot record contains the result.
Appearance and physical form
Records the observed physical form of the material against the specification, for example a powder description.
